FBI Offers $4.3 Million in Bounties for Help Finding Cyber Most-Wanted

July 8, 2015

Information Week has reported that the FBI is offering a total of $4.3 million for some of the criminals on its Cyber Most Wanted List. There are no women on the list (yet) and the FBI is still not offering monetary rewards for information leading to the arrests of five members of the People's Republic of China's People's Liberation Army. But you could become a millionaire laying a finger on a couple of the others. $3 million alone is the reward for helping to catch Evgeniy Mikhailovich Bogachev, the mastermind behind the GameoverZeuS botnet.

The FBI is also offering a hefty $1 million for information on Romanian citizen Nicolae Popescu, for his participation in an Internet fraud scheme. He's charged with conspiracy to commit wire fraud, money laundering, passport fraud, and trafficking in counterfeit service marks.

So forget the lottery tickets – if you are a technogeek and a digital detective, your odds of striking gold may be better helping the FBI catch cybercriminals. But don't give up your day job.
