Woman Sues Employer for Termination After She Disabled 24X7 Monitoring App

May 19, 2015

Naked Security had a fascinating post about a lawsuit by Myrna Arias, a former sales executive for the money transfer service Intermex, headquartered in Miami. She filed suit in California state superior court saying that her boss fired her after she uninstalled the app XORA, one which the company required its employees to use starting in April 2014.

She had no problem being monitored by the app during working hours, but according to the suit, the app was monitoring her 24X7. The complaint says that her boss acknowledged that he was monitoring employees when they were off duty. Talk about feeling like you have an ankle bracelet – geez.

From what I can see, if what she says is true, the law is on her side.
