Snapchat Users Find Their Nude Photos All Over the Web

October 15, 2014

It was bound to happen. We keep telling audiences that you shouldn't send or post anything you don't want to live forever, but somehow a lot of folks (mostly the younger generation) bought the marketing hype that Snapchat photos would vanish permanently after a few seconds.

As BGR reported, 'taint so. In what BGR dubbed "The Snappening," hundreds of thousands of Snapchat users woke up last week to find that their private photos and videos clips were on public display on the Internet.

After Snapchat took off in the marketplace, it took no time at all for developers to come up with apps from which Snapchat images could be opened and SAVED. It appears that Snapsave, one of these apps, was breached.

As many readers will know, the young are particularly drawn to Snapchat and often unaware that their images can be preserved. Snapchat's largest user base is under 18 which means that all these folks distributing the images are – you guessed it – distributing child pornography.

If you have teenagers or young adults in your life, this is an instructive tale to relate to them.
