Technolawyer 2014 Survey of 14,000+ Members

June 2, 2014

Lawyers do love statistics about lawyers so I enjoyed perusing the Technolawyer 2014 Demographics. You have to join to see the full report, but I have always found Technolawyer a source of interesting and useful information, so that's not necessarily a bad thing.

About 60% of those who subscribe to Technolawyer are solo/small firm lawyers and the largest practice area is litigation, followed by business/commercial, real estate, trusts/estates, personal injury, family, employment, IP, criminal and corporate/security lawyers.

Even in the solo/small firm market, it is not a Mac world yet, with about 24% reporting using a Mac platform – though that number has certainly jumped in the past few years. Of those who use a tablet, 78% use an iPad (no surprise there – the ABA reports similar stats).

I think I've subscribed to Technolawyer almost from the beginning. There is a menu of possible subscriptions for you to choose from – if you've never thought about becoming a subscriber, I recommend taking a look at it for a lot of free and invaluable information.
