Data Security Fears Intensify Among Law Firms

November 14, 2013

Though not shocking, it is reaffirming to see that The American Lawyer's 18th annual survey of law technology reveals the heightened concerns of technology directors and CTOs from 87 Am Law 200 firms about cybersecurity. Eighty-six percent of them are more concerned about security threats now than they were two years ago. The reasons why? There are tougher regulatory requirements, more security-conscious clients and more sophisticated techniques by cyber-criminals, who are increasingly targeting law firms.

As much as we emphasize all this in our lectures, attendees often remain complacent. Hopefully studies like these (I see another PowerPoint slide in this story) help make the point that cybersecurity is, and will likely remain, a major concern for law firms.
