MARINE ONE DATA ON COMPUTER WITH FILE SHARING – RIPLEY WOULDN'T BELIEVE IT

March 2, 2009

One of the first things anyone holding classified data on their computer should be told is: Don't install any file sharing programs.

As obvious as that sounds, apparently a federal contractor in Bethesda, Maryland didn't get it. His or her computer contained sensitive blueprints of Marine One, President Obama's helicopter, as well as some cost information.

This data was later traced to an IP address in Iran. Terrific. Perhaps someone should send out a memo to ALL federal contractors holding sensitive data. The likelihood that there is only one such idiot out there seems rather small.
