Podcast: Cybersecurity for Solos and Small Law Firms

September 14, 2016

It was a great pleasure for John and I to welcome Oklahoma Bar Association's Management Assistance Program Director Jim Calloway as our guest on our recent Legal Talk Network podcast. Jim's constituency is almost exclusive solo and small firm lawyers, so he has broad experience in working with these lawyers on cybersecurity.

By now, all lawyers are convinced that data breaches are a real and growing threat – one which can put a small law firm out of business. They often feel like they can't afford "big league" protection.

Jim provides his five top cybersecurity tips to help solo and small firm lawyers protect themselves and their clients. He addresses the importance of physically securing company laptops and other mobile devices. He closes the interview with an analysis of the risks and rewards of utilizing cloud-based practice management tools designed specifically for legal professionals and his advice for law firms who feel that they can't afford to adequately secure themselves.

And he does all with that rich Okie twang for which "The Cowboy" (my pet name for him) is justifiably famous.
