A Password Manager Has Become a Necessity

July 20, 2016

Honestly, I know tons of people who chronically have to answer "Forgot Your Password?" with "Yes." Then they need to have the right information to reset their password. I can't imagine how much time they have invested in this process. Or they ignore good advice and reuse the same two or three passwords over and over everywhere. Or they just plain get themselves locked out of an account for making too many wrong guesses.

If you are not already a true believe in password managers, it is time. Past time. Naked Security carried a post yesterday, "Why You Should Use a Password Manager" that you resistance fighters out there should read. The post recommends:

  • 1Password
  • Dashlane
  • LastPass
  • KeePass

All good choices, to which I'd add eWallet, which is one of our favorites. Simplify your life so that you only have to remember one strong password and have all the other individualized strong passwords (the manager will even generate them for you) remembered for you!

Let's not make a hacker's job any easier.
