Digital Detectives Podcast: The Meet and Confer – Getting it Right
May 26, 2011
Legal Talk Network has released the latest edition of Sensei's Digital Detectives podcast, entitled "The Meet and Confer: Getting it Right." We enjoyed a very entertaining conversation with Texas attorney and e-discovery expert David Chaumette, a partner in De la Rosa & Chaumette.
David, always witty and easy to listen to, talks about who should attend a meet and confer session with opposing counsel, what steps you should take if you do not know the answer to an issue that arises during a session, what topics must be covered and how to best document your efforts prior to having to defend your actions in front of a judge. It's a far-ranging conversation stressing that the Meet and Confer is a process and not a single meeting.
I was surprised to hear David note that, in his experience, 99.5% of clients don't have a current datamap or an org chart. Bad, bad, bad. Anyway, David offers lots of useful tips and solid advice for litigators – his advice is well worth heeding.
