Of Lawmageddon – And a Social Media Checklist

May 13, 2015

I always enjoy reading the Canadian online legal magazine SLAW (Disclosure: John and I are columnists for SLAW). But I especially wanted to thank Nate Russell for a recent SLAW post in which he explores all the things that people predict will spell "Lawmageddon for the practice of law. I confess, I do feel like we need to prep for Watson (or his son Ross) and the incursion of AI-driven machines into the practice of law. And cybersecurity is a juggernaut. I know I can't keep up, try though I might. Thankfully, there are many facets of technology that, as Nate notes, have a fairly plodding pace. You'll enjoy the wry discussion.

The second part of his post contains a social media checklist from Ellwood Evidence Inc. which many of you may find useful.

And in a private note to me citing the Canadian case Beattie v. Beattie, he filled my hair salon appointment with laughter as I read some of the most outrageous social media evidence, mostly Tweets, that I've ever seen – and the sardonic humor of the judge was just as entertaining. Enjoy.
