Sedona Conference Founder Richard Braman Dies at 60

June 11, 2014

It was with sorrow that I learned from a Sedona Conference e-mail that Sedona Conference founder Richard Braman died two days ago of complications from his battle with cancer at the age of 60.

Richard founded The Sedona Conference in 1997 in pursuit of his dream and vision to move the law forward in a reasoned and just way. As the Sedona Conference e-mail indicated, Richard’s personal principles and beliefs became the guiding principles for The Sedona Conference: professionalism, civility, an open mind, respect for the beliefs of others, thoughtfulness, reflection, and belief in a process based on civilized dialogue.

The Sedona Conference website now has a page in memory of Richard. You may also want to read Craig Ball's touching tribute to Richard. As he said, we have lost a true visionary who advanced the law in ways that were unimaginable when he founded the Sedona Conference. My sympathy to his family, friends and colleagues.
