Sex Toys That Sync to Virtual Reality Porn: More Steamy Evidence

May 21, 2015

First and foremost, do NOT click on the link I'm about to give you from a work device. It is definitely NSFW (not suitable for work). Remember that about 25% of our digital forensics work involves family law cases. So whenever we are gearing up for another "Perry Mason Goes Digital" CLE, we come across new sources of evidence in our research. And this one is a doozy.

As Wired reported just this week, a sex toy company (Lovense) and a virtual reality porn company (VirtualRealPorn) are teaming up to create sync-up virtual reality sex. How does it work? Well it involves using a Bluetooth dongle, specially coded virtual reality videos and sex toys to make the toys' vibrations sync with the action you are seeing in a headset. The idea is to make you feel what you are seeing – to quote the article "in real-time and in all the right places."

I read eyebrow-scorching stuff in the name of work. Sure enough, there will be evidence of usage of this new technology on computers when it is ready for prime time – and ultimately, on smartphones as they develop new apps.

Until today, I had never heard the word "teledildonics." If you search for the word on Google, the first entry is from Wikipedia. I missed another trend, apparently. The makers of the new technology say that they dream that users will not have to interact at all. That seems kind of a shame.

We have certainly come a long way from the innocent days of Mayberry R.F.D. I may be showing my age, but I found it charming when Andy used to say to Helen, "Give me a little sugar." Interaction is – IMHO – better.

But thanks for the new presentation topic and the evidence I know we'll start seeing soon . .
