The Death of Prince: Why Employers Need to Talk to Their Employees

April 25, 2016

Prince's death last week came as a shock – and the world turned purple in sorrow. But with events that attract the attention of so many people, the bad guys pounce, especially on social media, but everywhere, trying to get people – including your employees – to click on a malicious attachment or link – or to visit a site with malicious code embedded. What a great way to get (for instance) ransomware on a business network.

As tragic as Prince's death is (I can't tell you how many of my quarters went into juke boxes to hear "When Doves Cry"), it also provides a teachable cybersecurity moment. If you see something (on Facebook for example) that purports to tell you "How Prince Really Died" or "Video of Prince's Last Moments", it's probably not a good idea to click on it.

Thanks to Michael Beese of MRB Public Relations for sending me an e-mail warning about the Prince phishing e-mails/videos/social media posts.
