The Rise of the Machines: Artificial Intelligence and the Future of Law

July 11, 2016

It is with pleasure that I share the news that I will be presenting "The Rise of the Machines: Artificial Intelligence and the Future of Law" with my good friend Ed Walters, the CEO of Fastcase – who has also taught The Law of Robots at Georgetown Law as an adjunct professor.

We've been scrapping good-naturedly over this topic for some time. Recently, I sent Ed a new Word of the Day definition from WhatIs.com. The definition, sent to me by my friend Dave Ries, was for "artificially intelligent attorney."

To say that Ed disputed the definition is to put it mildly. He self-characterized his response as a rant – but boy was it compelling to read. I am truly looking forward to this one – a brand new presentation for both of us. Recently, there have been lots of press reports about large law firms using artificial intelligence.

Reality or hype? Ed has a very clear position on that question!

We will be teaching this CLE for the ABA's Law Practice Division on July 20th 1-2:30 p.m. Eastern. Join the fray and register here.
