Why Lawyers MUST Upgrade from Windows XP and Office 2003

Lecturing to audiences about why they must upgrade software when support for it is terminated by the manufacturer is much like pissing into a strong wind. The reasons for not upgrading are many – I like this software, I don't want to learn new software, there's not really a problem (the "spreading FUD" charge), I don't have the money – and the list goes on and on.

While we always try to explain the ethical requirements of competence (including competence with your technology) and the duty of safeguarding client data, too often our words fall on deaf ears.
