Want to Track COVID-19 Litigation? Here’s a Great Tool

July 13, 2020

Hunton Andrews Kurth's COVID-19 Complaint Tracker is a comprehensive database of state and federal litigation involving COVID-19 claims which I discovered last Friday (hat tip the Virginia Bar Association's weekly COVID-19 call). It is updated regularly and is a terrific resource.

Litigation related to COVID-19 started in March 2020 but really picked up steam in April. There are currently 3347 lawsuits pending in the U.S. The states with the most lawsuits (unsurprisingly) are New York, California, Florida and Texas – in that order.

What kind of litigation are we seeing? Insurance cases top the list, with many of them involving business interruption claims, followed by civil rights suits and habeas/confinement conditions/prisoner and detainee petitions.

Litigators are rolling their sleeves up and getting back to work – and most courts across the country now offer some combination of remote and in-person proceedings.

Since Sensei Enterprises does digital forensics, we are mighty glad to see litigation bouncing back!
