25% of Law Firms Have Suffered a Data Breach
January 4, 2022
I am delighted to say that I recently learned that the ABA has published its 2021 cybersecurity summary from its 2021 Legal Technology Survey Report, authored by our friend and frequent co-presenter Dave Ries. You are going to want to read this one – and it’s free.
The most striking statistic was that 25% of law firms have suffered a data breach – at some point.
The second most striking statistic, to me, was that only 36% of respondents said their firms had an incident response plan (IRP). As IRPs are a critical component of a cybersecurity plan, it is appalling that so many firms do not have them.
The summary is just 12 pages long and invaluable reading, with lots of statistics, if you want to see how your law firm stacks up against others.
