Office 2019 Price May Drive You to Office 365

October 31, 2018

Do you even know that there is a new version of Office? Microsoft hasn’t pulled the plug on perpetual license software yet. Office 2019 is available for purchase if you don’t want to move to the cloud. However, the price may drive you to the cloud and Office 365. The cost of the Office 2019 Home & Student version remains the same as the Office 2016's price of $149.99. Office 2019 Home & Business costs $249.99, up 9 percent from the previous version. Then there is Office 2019 Professional. The cost is up 10% to $439.99 over the 2016 version.

Paying more for less is the direction of the next generation of Office. The on-premise version of Office has less features than Office 365. As Microsoft states: “Pricing for Office 2019 (on-premises) client licensing for commercial customers and for academic agreements for small and midsize customers (doesn't include the Enrollment for Education Solutions) is increasing by 10% for the first time since 2010 to represent the significant value added to the product over time and to better reflect costs and customer demand and align with cloud pricing.”
