Samsung Announces World’s Largest Solid State Drive
February 21, 2018
Large as in capacity and not large as in physical size. The new SSD packs 30.72 terabytes of storage in a 2.5 inch form factor. Seagate has a 60TB SSD, but it was in a spacious 3.5 inch form factor and appears to have been "demonstration technology" since it has never gone on sale. The Samsung drive uses a 12Gb/s Serial Attached SCSI interface. At 30TB, you could store 5,700 full HD movies at 5GB each. No word on price or availability yet, but manufacturing did start in January.
