New Bugs Discovered That Impact Almost Every Device

The latest news is all the media hype over a huge bug impacting Intel processors. Intel came out and said it's not that big a deal and that the problem isn't just with Intel processors. ARM and AMD processors are also impacted. Apparently, there is a problem with how the devices provide protection to prevent the various process and applications from interfering with each other. The bug is called Meltdown for Intel processors and the bug impacting ARM and AMD processors is called Spectre.

Should you worry about this latest news? TechCrunch has a great summary of the situation. The fixes are going to be applied in the operating systems. The Windows patch is already available if you are a Windows insider user. Fixes are available for Linux and Apple announced a fix will be coming shortly. No matter what operating system you run, a patch is available or will be distributed in the next several days. At the end of the day, make sure you apply all updates as soon as they are available.
