Beware of Walmart Phishing Scam

August 9, 2016

BGR reported that there has been an uptick in phishing e-mails appearing to come from Walmart. The e-mail message requests that the recipient enter a verification code in order to reset their password. The problems is that Walmart didn't send them. Walmart confirmed the increase in password recovery e-mails, but doesn't believe any accounts have actually been compromised. The betting money is that the password recovery messages are a precursor for a future phishing attack. Someone is trying to verify that the e-mail address is associated with a Walmart account. If you receive one of the password recovery messages, don't visit the website, especially if you don't even have a Walmart account.
