Be Afraid – Be Very Afraid of Your Smart TV
November 3, 2014
Apparently, there is no such thing as privacy. It doesn’t matter if it is Facebook, Google, Apple or any other company trying to capture as much personal information as possible to sell and make money. Just when you thought that all you had to worry about was computer and smartphone activity, along comes the so-called smart TVs. BGR had a recent blog post that tells the story of a man that is afraid of powering up his newly acquired TV after reading the 46 page privacy statement about what data the TV would be gathering.
These new TVs collect so much information that rivals what smartphones gather. The TV will track how long you use the TV, what sites you visit, what apps you use, the content of your e-mail and a lot more personal information. As more and more devices are connected to the Internet, your personal activities are being made known to total strangers. Beware of the “smart” devices since you’re pretty dumb to trust them.
