How to Downgrade from iOS 8

September 23, 2014

Last week, I suggested that Apple users may want to be a little more patient about upgrading to iOS 8 especially if you have an older iPhone 4S or iPad 2. For a limited time, Apple is still supporting iOS 7.1.2 and there are instructions on how to fall back from the iOS update. If you are one of the brave souls that is considering upgrading to iOS 8, you should probably do it sooner than later. That way you can get back to version 7.1.2 if you experience any problems.

Besides the reported slowness with iOS 8 on iPhone 4S and iPad 2s, there are also reports of buggy WiFi and worse than normal battery life. I think I’ll wait until the dust settles before upgrading Sharon’s iPads. I’ve gotten pretty good at recovering in DFU mode with other upgrades and don’t really want to go through that again if I don’t have to.
