Phone and DNA Evidence Causes a Delay in Bomb Case

April 9, 2020

Paul Higgins of the Belfast Telegraph reports that Ross Hardy, who has been accused of building his own blast bomb, is in jail. The blast bomb was uncovered in a kitchen cupboard of Hardy’s girlfriend, Rebecca Gregory. Hardy admitted to creating the device during a troubling period in his life. The court hearing took place on April 7, 2020. The court heard from prosecution that the DNA report was not due until June 21 and that the triage of the mobile phone in the matter was going to be due a month later. Counsel for the defense, Kevin McCamely, argued that “it’s not a very complicated case and relevant admissions have been made.” In turn, the prosecution stated to the judge that it “cannot be done any faster.” The case is set for review on May 5 by District Judge Eamonn King.
