Guys Need to Stop Using Password as a Password
December 14, 2017
No matter how many times we hear of data breaches or how often we are forced to change our passwords, users are generally pretty bad at selecting a decent password. NIST has called it security fatigue and has now recommended that we only change a password when we know it has been compromised AND to use a password that has never been compromised. In 2016, '123456' was the most common password. Pretty sad. EPC Group conducted a survey that found 37 percent of respondents use the same password (or a variant) for at least seven years. Another revelation…men are 2.8 times more likely to use the word 'password' as their password. Let's up the game and at least change that practice.
