Surface Pro 3 – A True Laptop Replacement

December 17, 2014

Thanks to Sharon and our longtime friend, Jim Calloway, for inviting me to their Digital Edge podcast on Legal Talk Network. We talked about the Microsoft Surface Pro 3 and how it really is a laptop replacement. The Surface Pro 3 is available in many configurations with costs ranging from $799 all the way to $1,949. I would suggest getting any version with a 256 GB solid state drive or larger since they include 8 GB of RAM. The smaller drive versions only have 4 GB of RAM. This device is slightly heavier than an iPad and you can install and run any Windows software just like a regular desktop computer. Don’t forget to enable BitLocker to encrypt the drive and also the micro SD card if you’ve installed one. My biggest complaint…you have to pay extra for the Type Cover (keyboard and cover), which is really a required accessory for $129.99. Come on Microsoft, roll the cost into the total price for the Surface Pro 3 since the keyboard is a necessity.
