TrueCrpyt Isn’t Dead (Yet)!
June 5, 2014
According to a recent blog post, two Swiss developers have assembled a team to keep open source encryption alive. As I recently noted, the TrueCrypt site has been modified with a warning that it was not secure after releasing version 7.2 of the application. Thomas Bruderer and Joseph Doekbrijder have created a new site, where they are providing the ability to download version 7.1a of TrueCrypt (the released production version that was being used prior to the warning laden version). We still don’t know the circumstance surrounding the shutdown of the TrueCrypt site, but at least there is an alternative. As an update, the second phase of the audit of TrueCrypt 7.1a is continuing so we’ll see if TrueCrypt really is insecure.
