Wake Up Gmail Users – Turn On Two Factor Authentication

Google has released some disturbing numbers concerning Gmail users. There are around one billion Gmail users and only 10% of them have enabled two-step verification. For those of you that still don't know…two-factor (or two-step) authentication is when you need another piece of information to log on to a system other than your user ID and password. Typically, it's a verification code sent via text message or to an authenticator app. Google introduced its version of 2FA in 2011. I've said it before and I'll say it again. You should be using 2FA whenever possible. It really isn't that hard to enable two-factor for your Gmail account. Perhaps application providers should make 2FA mandatory. That would certainly help to cut down the number of data compromises.
