Who is Tracking Your Gmail messages?
March 26, 2015
At this time, we pretty much assume that the NSA is capturing, or at least attempting to capture, our communication streams. But who is the bad guy here? Is it our own government, some state sponsored foreign government or some script kiddy hoping to get some juicy information that they can sell on the black market? It really doesn’t matter. We need to protect our communications and the confidential data that may be transmitted using e-mail. I could go on and on about how to encrypt your e-mail communications, but a lot of folks don’t even believe that our transmissions are being intercepted, even if just for marketing purposes.
There is now a Chrome browser extension that will tell you if your Gmail messages are being tracked by marketers or any other message tracking agency. It won’t alert you to all the illegal and legal (if there are any) attempts to track your messages, but at least it is a small step to bring forth awareness about the type of data that you may be giving up.
