Why Bother with Apple’s AirPods?

First Apple got rid of the earphone jack. Second, it announced wireless AirPods for the outrageous price of $180 to be delivered in late October. Third, Apple indefinitely delays delivery of AirPods. The obvious question is – who cares? There are many other manufacturers of wireless ear pieces for the iPhone, iPad and iPod that are a lot less money than what Apple wants to charge. Apple claims that there is incredible response to AirPods and that it won't ship a product before it is ready. We've heard that story before. Perhaps get a different device that still has an earphone jack or buy wireless earbuds from someone else that is actually shipping a product.
