Yahoo Getting Into the E-mail Encryption Game

Thank you NSA. Besides Google moving towards end-to-end encryption for every one of its services, Yahoo is now moving that way too. In a recent post, Yahoo announced that it will have an end-to-end encryption plugin for Yahoo Mail by the end of the year. Right now it is rolling out the source code in order to collect feedback from developers and security professionals. It’s good to see service providers moving towards using encryption to keep data private and essentially inaccessible to the NSA and other spy agencies. When was the last time you saw competitors cooperating to help secure information? I love how Yahoo thanked Google for its “invaluable contribution.”
