Your Chance of Being Hacked in Twelve Months Now a "Statistical Certainty"

So says the latest study by the Ponemon Institute. In its latest report, published on June 22nd, survey results showed 90% of businesses of every size reported at least one data breach in the last 12 months. More than half of the repondents said they experienced more than two breaches in the same time period.

More than half of the respondents also had little confidence in being able to prevent another cyberattack in the coming 12 months. 43% saw a significant increase in cyberattacks and 77% found the attacks more severe and difficult to contain.

52% of the data breaches originated with malicious insiders and 48% were the result of malicious software.

A remarkable number of respondents didn't know the source of the breaches – only 11% knew where the breach had originated.

Can you ever be 100% secure? Of course not, but those who have their heads in the sand or their hands in a death grip on their wallets are simply begging to be victimized.
