ABA Releases 2018 Legal Technology Guide
February 20, 2018
The American Bar Association (ABA) has recently released The 2018 Solo and Small Firm Legal Technology Guide: Critical Decisions Made Simple. Written by Sensei’s Sharon Nelson, John Simek, and Michael Maschke, the eleventh edition of this annual guide offers the latest information and recommendations on computers, servers, networking equipment, mobile devices, legal software, printers, security products, and anything a solo lawyer or a small law office might need.
Specific topics covered in the 2018 Legal Technology Guide include:
- An overview of current best-of- breed and budget friendly legal technology products
- Legal productivity software
- A guide to backing up your data – for business continuity reasons and to protect yourself against ransomware
- A look at the growing popularity of Office 365
- Data security – what reasonable measures should you be taking in light of the new ethics rules?
- Cloud computing pros and cons
- Where the legal technology world will be in 2018 and beyond
“This book represents a bit of a change,” says Sharon Nelson. “Our readers asked for a leaner version of the book, focused on essential legal tech – and that is what we have tried to deliver. One of our peer reviewers remarked that he enjoyed this year’s edition more than any edition with the exception of the first edition – so I think we may stay with the condensed format, which is less overwhelming no doubt!”
The book is priced at $89.95 ($67.46 for members of the ABA’s Law Practice Division) and is available through the ABA’s website store here.
