Get Rid of Saved Password in Microsoft Edge

Recently, I posted a reference to instructions for exporting and deleting passwords from the Firefox browser. You’ve heard it many times before. DO NOT save passwords in any browser! Use a password manager instead. I don’t know anyone that actually uses Microsoft Edge as their default browser, but don’t store passwords there either. If you are an Edge user, there is a process to export any stored passwords and delete them.

How-To Geek posted instructions to remove any saved Edge passwords. Like Firefox, you export your credentials in a CSV file. You start by clicking on the three-dot menu in the upper right corner. Navigate to Settings and then Passwords. In the Saved Passwords section, select the Export Passwords option. Follow the prompts and save the CSV file. Once you have the saved passwords, import them into the password manager of your choice. Verify that the import was successful and then delete the stored passwords from Edge.

Begin the deletion process by selecting the three-dot menu icon in the upper right corner. Click on the Settings choice. Select Privacy, Search and Services in the left side menu and click on the Choose What to Clear button next to the Clear browsing data now item. In the Clear browsing data dialog box, change the Time range to All Time and make sure to check the box next to Passwords. Click the Clear Now button and you’re done.
