Annotate Screenshots with Snip & Sketch

Many Windows users know how to take a screenshot by hitting the PrtSc key. Microsoft released the Snipping Tool in the last several Windows versions to add some additional features for screenshots. The Snipping Tool is being replaced with a new screenshot tool called Snip & Sketch. Users should learn how to use the built-in Snip & Sketch tool for taking future screenshots in Windows 10. Not to worry. How-To Geek has a post to help you annotate screenshots taken with Snip & Sketch.

Launch Snip & Sketch by hitting the Windows icon and typing “Snip & Sketch.” For now, if you just type “snip” you will see the Snipping Tool and the Snip & Sketch choices. Once Snip & Sketch is launched, Click New to start a new screenshot. You can delay the screenshot or take one immediately. You have five choices for the type of screenshot – Rectangular, Freeform, Window, Fullscreen or Close. You have the option to annotate the screenshot using three different tools – Pen, Pencil and Highlighter. Select the tool you want to use and then the color and thickness of the annotation. There are also additional tools to make sure you draw a straight line or a perfect circle.

While Snip & Sketch is a great free feature in Windows 10 for taking screenshots. I prefer to use a more robust tool called Snagit by TechSmith. The cost is $49.99. You can add maintenance for $12.50/year to make sure you get all the available updates.
