New Firefox Privacy Feature Released

June 29, 2022

Protecting our privacy is top of mind for a lot of users. Many of the states are moving to pass laws protecting consumer’s rights and limiting what companies can do with user’s information. According to a BleepingComputer post, Firefox has released a new feature to help protect users. Mozilla Firefox 102 has “a new privacy feature that strips parameters from URLs that are used to track you around the web.” In other words, the Firefox browser will strip out those parameters in the URL that are used to track what you’re doing on the internet.

To check or enable the new privacy feature, go to Settings -> Privacy & Security and select Strict within the Enhanced Tracking Protection section. My installation was already set to Strict following the update, which may be the default.
