Another PDF Redaction Screwup
February 9, 2021
Another day, another dollar. It is still absolutely amazing that anyone responsible for redacting a document can be totally incompetent. Another report, brought to you by Malwarebytes, tells the story of a failed redaction concerning an AstraZeneca contract. How timely! Apparently, the document was only “partially” redacted and revealed some information that shouldn’t have been exposed. “Although the document that was published on their website was supposed to be heavily redacted, whomever is responsible for making the document look “clean” forgot to redact the contents of the PDF’s bookmarks, which revealed significant portions of the redacted text.”
Adobe has instructions for properly finding and redacting a PDF document. At the end of the day…if you are responsible for redacting data, get it right!
