Trash Your Inkjet Printer

September 8, 2020

We've said it countless times over the years. Don't be tempted to purchase an inkjet printer. The initial cost of an inkjet printer is pretty compelling for those budget conscious buyers. However, sticker shock will shortly set in once you start paying for those expensive ink cartridges. How-To-Geek posted confirmation of our recommendation. Laserjet printers are way more cost effective to maintain. Typical inkjet cartridges have strict expiration dates and only print a few hundred pages. If you don't print a lot, you risk the cartridge drying out and getting even less pages. In contrast, a laserjet cartridge will print thousands of pages.

As the post stated, "Plus, toner cartridges are a better value overall when it comes to cost per page. This full set of HP ink cartridges is $45 and will yield about 190 pages at most—this will cost you around $0.24 per page. This Brother toner cartridge is a bit more expensive at $54, but it will print up to 2,600 pages, which comes out to an impressive $0.02 per page." Another bonus is that laser printers print a lot faster than an inkjet.
