Spoiler alert. The internet isn't going away any time soon. The internet has been around for a long time and the Wayback Machine (https://archive.org/web/web.php) has been used as a repository for historical websites. The site can be used to determine what content may have been deleted from the current version. If you have ever used the Wayback Machine, it can be a little slow and doesn't consistently capture every website version. There are alternatives and Tech Viral has posted ten of them.
