$50 Bucks Can Double Internet Speed on Your Computer

July 22, 2020

Everyone wants faster internet. As we continue to work from home, the network connections at our houses are being taxed with multiple devices competing for internet bandwidth. We're participating in video conferencing, our spouse is remotely connecting to a work network, our children may be attending school remotely and there is always video streaming. BGR has posted suggestions to possibly speed up your connection to the internet. Typically, you are probably using your home Wi-Fi to access the internet. Your signal strength (and therefore speed) is probably not optimal. The further away you are from your router, the weaker your connection and slower your speed.

Wi-Fi range extenders are an inexpensive way to boost the signal strength and help increase your speed. Another option is to install Powerline over Ethernet adapters. These adapters utilize the electrical wiring in your home to effectively connect your computer directly to your router via Ethernet. Finally, installing a mesh Wi-Fi network will improve wireless network coverage, but costs a bit more. No matter which solution you choose, you are still limited to the internet speed your ISP provides to your home.
