Magic Keyboard Doesn’t Make the iPad a Laptop

April 22, 2020

Apple is great at limiting user's choices and deciding what is best for the user. The Magic Keyboard is no exception. Dieter Bohn of The Verge writes about the experience of using the Magic Keyboard. The new hardware does make a nice addition to the iPad, but it doesn't make the iPad a laptop replacement. The hardware doesn't lift the restrictions Apple has made with the operating system. You still can't do things you can with a laptop computer. The author does note that the Magic Keyboard is a bit expensive (shocker) and isn't confident a third-party manufacturer will develop a cheaper alternative. At the end of the day, the iPad is still an iPad.
