1Password Users – Facial Recognition on Pixel 4

November 18, 2019

The Pixel 4 doesn't have a fingerprint sensor so 1Password has been updated to use facial recognition. Android Police has all the details, but it primarily boils down to 1Password using the face unlock feature to gain access to the encrypted vault of its data. As I've said many times, I believe everyone should be using a password manager. There are a lot of choices out there. Typically you would use a very strong master passphrase to gain access to all of your data stored by the password manager. Some can also unlock using biometrics such as a fingerprint. Be sure you check which unlock mechanism your password manager supports. You may not be able to use facial recognition or iris scans if it is not supported by your password manager app.
