View Your Saved Passwords in Chrome on Android Devices

August 19, 2019

Despite our continued recommendation NOT to store any passwords or other information in a browser, people just continue to do it. We believe that using a password manager rather than using a browser's feature is a better alternative. What if you don't know what you've saved in the browser? There is an easy way to see the data you've saved in Chrome on your Android devices.

Launch Chrome on your Android device. Click the three dot menu icon in the upper right corner (not the hamburger icon in the upper left) and select Settings. In the "Basics" section, select Passwords. If the "Save Password" is on, you are telling Chrome to save your data in the browser. On the same screen, there is a Passwords section. It will show you the website name and your username. However, the password will not be shown. Selecting the site name will give you the opportunity to view the stored password. Select the site name and then the eye icon in the password section. You will then need to verify your identity (phone password, fingerprint, etc.) to view the password. Hit the trashcan icon in the upper left if you want to delete the entry.
