Huge MicroSD Storage for Cheap Money

May 7, 2019

Electronic storage media is getting cheaper and cheaper. The latest “great deal” is Samsung’s 512GB microSD card for less than a hundred dollars. That’s half a terabyte for less than a C-note. The specs state that this microSD card carries U3 certification, meaning that it has a minimum sequential writing speed of 30MB/s. In comparison, SanDisk’s popular 400GB microSD card only has the UHS Class 1 classification. The UHS spec is really important for people recording video, but not so much for normal file storage. Samsung’s 512GB microSD card comes bundled with an SD adapter, which means you can use the card in a computer with an SD slot, unlike most Mac laptops that are not “expansion friendly” and don’t have an SD card slot or other expansion options.
