And Now There Are 30 States Which Have Adopted the Ethical Duty of Tech Competence

Thanks to Bob Ambrogi for yet again tracking the growing list of states adopting the ethical duty of technology competence in his LawSites blog.

Kentucky adopted this duty effective January 1st – and its language is identical to that recommended by the ABA in 2012. See the italicized change below.

Maintaining Competence

To maintain the requisite knowledge and skill, a lawyer should keep abreast of changes in the law and its practice, including the benefits and risks associated with relevant technology, engage in continuing study and education, and comply with all continuing legal education requirements to which the lawyer is subject.
