FCC Publishes 10-Step Guide for Securing Smartphones

Since I spend a fair amount of time beating on the government, it is a pleasure to applaud the Federal Communications Commission for issuing a practical guide to secure smartphones.
The FCC released an online tool called the "Smartphone Security Checker" in late December which contains a 10-step action plan that smartphone users can use to protect their personal data in case their phones get infected with malware or are lost, stolen or resold.
In fairness, the FCC had a little help from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, the Federal Trade Commission, the National Cyber Security Alliance and other public and private sector partners.
The tool allows you to select from Android, Apple iOS, BlackBerry and Windows Phone devices. Many of the tips are the same or similar but they include some links to OS-specific instructions.
