Wife Discovers Husbands Affair Midair on His Phone: Plane Forced to Land

Hat tip to our friend Greg Adams at the USC School of Law. The Guardian reported on November 8^th that a Qatar Airways plane was forced to land midflight after a woman who used her sleeping husband's thumb to unlock his smartphone discovered he was having an affair.

The couple and their child were flying to Bali, Indonesia, for a holiday. The woman repeatedly hit her husband after learning of his infidelity and the captain was forced, in light of what was called a "ruckus" to make an unscheduled stop in Chennai, India, when the cabin crew was unable to restore order.

The family was then taken to a detention center at the airport as they did not have an Indian visa before being put on another flight. So I wonder how that holiday went . . .

Remarkably enough, since we do so many family law cases involving digital forensics, we hear similar stories all the time (minus the plane and the forced landing). Typically, the wife is suspicious of adultery, liquors her husband up deliberately until he passes out and then uses his thumb to unlock his phone.

If you're going to cheat on your spouse, we would avoid using biometrics to unlock your phone. Just sayin'.
