INTERVIEW WITH SHARON NELSON FEATURED IN LAW TECHNOLOGY NEWS

January 29, 2015

On December 18, 2014, an interview with Sensei’s President, Sharon Nelson, was featured in Law Technology News. Law Technology News (LTN) magazine and website share a mission to provide lucid, insightful, and jargon-free coverage of legal technology trends and developments to an audience of legal industry professionals, helping them use technology and innovation to deliver faster, better, and cheaper legal services. Sharon answers many questions such as her secret to success and how she recharges her batteries. Sharon was interviewed by Monica Bay who is editor-in-chief of Law Technology News and a member of the California bar.

Here is an excerpt from the interview:
Who was your most important mentor, and why: My father, who wanted to know why I was playing a nurse instead of a doctor at age 4. He mentored me to be strong and independent minded (even when I disagreed with him) and he wore an ear-to-ear grin and said happily, “My daughter, the lawyer” over and over again at my law school graduation. I miss him terribly but the memories are sweet.
How can mentors improve: Turn off the mental “clock” and listen.
What annoys mentors: Being too needy or seeking to have the mentor inappropriately use her influence.
Advice for the next generation: Get unwired for substantial periods of time or you’ll come unglued.
