PREVENTING LAW FIRM DATA BREACHES

The April 2012 edition of Virginia Lawyer, the official publication of the Virginia State Bar, included an article written by Sensei principals Sharon D. Nelson and John W. Simek. “The Deplorable State of Law Firm Information Security: Preventing Law Firm Data Breaches” discusses how law firms are lulled into thinking that they are not vulnerable to a data breach simply because they do not have thousands of clients. Wrong! The FBI has issued an advisory warning to law firms that they are specifically being targeted by hackers.
