Facebook is Still Evil

March 4, 2019

Those of you that have heard me present, know that I am not a Facebook fan. When you thought your privacy couldn’t be compromised any more, TechCrunch reported that Facebook allows others to “look up” your phone number. It’s a good thing to enable two-factor authentication to secure your account. Apparently, Facebook also lets anyone “look up” your profile based on the phone number. They don’t even have to be Facebook users. Facebook doesn’t even let you opt out of the phone number “look up.” You do have the ability to hide your phone number, but it cannot be completely hidden. Facebook already has a reputation of using your phone number to deliver targeted advertisements as reported by Gizmodo. The best you can do to limit exposure is to set your “look up” setting to “Friends” in order to mitigate risk. One more reason Facebook is evil.
